  • MoonPay teams up with Play Solana to launch 50 exclusive PSG1 “MoonBoys” handheld consoles unavailable for purchase.
  • The limited PSG1 “MoonBoys” units will only be given away, with no public sale planned now or later.

Recently, MoonPay has teamed up with Play Solana to bring you something truly unusual: a limited edition PSG1 handheld console called “MoonBoys.” But wait—this isn’t a device that you can buy anytime you want on an online store.

There are only 50 units, and none of them will be sold. Yes, you read that right. Not a single one will be released to the market by way of sale.

The PSG1 itself is a blockchain-based gaming console from Play Solana that has been stealing the spotlight since the beginning of the year. It has a sleek design, pretty tempting specs: an octa-core processor, 8GB of RAM, a nearly 4-inch OLED screen, and interestingly, a built-in crypto wallet complete with a fingerprint sensor.

Just imagine playing Web3 games and being able to directly access your assets without having to open your laptop. Now imagine if you could have a special edition of only 50 units. It feels like having a rare version of the PS2, but with a modern Web3 flavor.

What Else Is MoonPay Up To These Days?

On the other hand, MoonPay is indeed busy expanding its foothold in the world of digital assets. For example, on May 7, they announced a collaboration with TRON DAO. This collaboration allows users in the United States to buy TRX tokens directly through MoonPay.

They want to increase involvement in the TRON DeFi ecosystem and increase daily transactions on the network. Furthermore, this integration shows how MoonPay wants to eliminate the boundaries between ordinary users and the DeFi sector that has so far seemed technical.

And that’s not all. Recently, CNF reported that Mastercard has partnered with MoonPay to launch a stablecoin-based payment card. This card will be available at more than 150 million merchants globally. Interestingly, this card immediately converts stablecoins to fiat during a transaction. So, no need to bother thinking about exchange rates or manual processes—just pay as usual.

However, perhaps more crucial than all of that is the legal step they took in mid-May 2025. Carey Olsen’s firm, together with Oak Group, has helped MoonPay register its subsidiary as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) in Jersey. This strengthens their legal position in Europe and paves the way for wider services in the region.

When Can Get “MoonBoys”?

Now, the most important question is, how do you get PSG1 MoonBoys? Unfortunately, until this article was written, there was no detailed explanation about the mechanism. MoonPay only said that the opportunity would come, and anyone could have the chance to get it.

It is not clear whether through a lottery, community mission, or special selection. But one thing is for sure, this device will be fought over, especially with the embellishment “will not be sold forever.”

Not only that, the presence of MoonBoys could be a trump card to introduce PSG1 to a wider community. If they can combine an exciting gaming experience with seamless crypto technology, it is not impossible that this console will become a pioneer in a new segment. Maybe, it’s like the Nintendo Switch—but for the Web3 space.

For now, there’s only one thing to do: keep an eye on the official MoonPay and Play Solana accounts, turn on notifications, and get your thumbs ready. Who knows, you might be one of the lucky 50.
