What to know about the deadly streetcar derailment in Lisbon

At least 17 people were killed and a further 21 were injured when Lisbon’s historic Elevador da Gloria streetcar derailed on Wednesday evening, emergency services confirmed. Portuguese authorities said the country would observe a national day of mourning on Thursday.
