This week, FRANCE 24's media show looks at Hurricane Katrina and the press. Print and broadcast media are running special coverage marking the 20th anniversary of the disaster. There are also at least eight new documentaries, including separate projects by big names like Spike Lee and Ryan Coogler. Two common themes remain the racial and class issues surrounding evacuation orders and the emergency response, as well as reporting that disproportionately – and at times inaccurately – covered accounts of violence and looting. Our guests are writer Clint Smith and filmmaker Edward Buckles, Jr.
