Talks to end the war in Ukraine are set to take place in Istanbul on Thursday but Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky have indicated they will not attend, despite US President Donald Trump’s call for a swift end to the fighting. After more than three years of war, Moscow and Kyiv’s demands appear to remain far apart.
