  • VeChain has announced the first wave of VeBetter grant proposals on the VeChain Discourse. Users are encouraged to participate in the process.
  • VeChain’s revamped grant structure focuses on two key categories, the X‑to‑Earn Grants and the Ecosystem Infrastructure Grants.

VeChain has activated the first grant under its upgraded VeBetter Grants Program 3.0, and the community is now invited to vote and help direct funding toward meaningful sustainability projects. The first proposal up for consideration is for an app called ReUse, which aims to encourage more sustainable behavior in the secondhand clothing market.

ReUse is requesting a $25,000 grant from VeBetterDAO.This grant will be distributed in two stages, one to help launch the app and another to support onboarding retail partners. The proposal, submitted by grantteam.veworld.vet, will remain open for voting for 7 days. So far, 533 wallets have cast their votes, with 65.4% in favor, 30.4% against, and 4.2% abstaining, though the required quorum to move forward hasn’t been reached yet.

The team for ReUse highlights that the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions, along with significant textile waste and water consumption. They argue that the secondhand market faces several hurdles: consumers have little incentive to buy used clothing. There are no clear metrics to track environmental impact, and there’s no unified rewards system or transparent tracking.

ReUse offers a solution. Users shop secondhand, either through local stores or apps like Vinted, verify their purchases by uploading receipts and photos, and in return, earn B3TR tokens. These tokens are used on VeBetterDAO or to participate in governance votes via VOT3 tokens, while also allowing users to track their positive environmental impact, such as waste saved and CO₂ emissions reduced.

It emphasized that “ReUse simplifies sustainable living by gamifying secondhand shopping. Users can directly see the positive environmental effects of their purchases, while supporting local businesses and helping build greener communities.”

VeBetter Grants Application

The application process for the VeBetter Grants Program is designed to be clear and structured, guiding applicants through six key steps, from submitting their initial application online to ultimately receiving funding. The process begins with an initial review, followed by in-depth discussions for promising projects. If a project moves forward, the team provides a customized grant offer, which then goes through a phase of community voting. Once approved, funding is disbursed based on clearly defined milestones.

VeChain’s official X post breaks down the two main funding tracks available through the program. The first, called the X-to-Earn Grant, is geared toward sustainability-focused apps that reward users for taking eco-friendly actions. To qualify, applicants need to present a working demo, MVP, or prototype, with a clear path toward launching on VeBetter and a viable business model. As CNF previously reported, these grants can provide up to $30,000 in B3TR tokens, aimed at driving real-world impact, think apps like a “Recycle-to-Earn” platform that rewards users for recycling.

The team added, “With a more streamlined process in place, all proposals will benefit from a transparent community validation process, a defining feature of our enhanced grants system.” The second is the Ecosystem Infrastructure Grant is designed to support protocol developers, tool builders, and infrastructure teams that are helping to strengthen the VeBetter ecosystem. Successful applicants can receive up to $50,000 in B3TR tokens.

Those that will receive the grants will still have 100% ownership of their projects, and they will still benefit from milestone-based funding that helps turn ideas into reality. “Beyond financial resources, we provide technical guidance from blockchain experts, collaboration opportunities with fellow builders, and marketing amplification through VeChain Foundation channels,” the article also highlights.

Projects that directly address VeBetterDAO’s goals and align with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals will receive priority, especially those with mass-market (Web2-ready) potential. Additionally, projects that help improve infrastructure, tools, security, and scalability across the VeChain ecosystem are highly encouraged to apply.
