President Donald Trump insisted that Russian President Vladimir Putin would immediately begin negotiating to end the war in Ukraine after a Monday telephone call between the leaders.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump argued that his two-hour phone call with Putin "went very well."
"Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the War," the U.S. president said.

Trump asserted that Putin's "tone and spirit" were "excellent" during the call.
"If it wasn't, I would say so now, rather than later," he continued. "Russia wants to do large-scale TRADE with the United States when this catastrophic 'bloodbath' is over, and I agree. There is a tremendous opportunity for Russia to create massive amounts of jobs and wealth."
Trump also revealed that the Vatican was allegedly willing to host negotiations to end the war.
"Let the process begin!" he exclaimed.
