Syrian foreign minister heads to Washington for first official US trip

Syria's Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani is due to arrive in Washington D.C. on Thursday for his first official trip to the US capital since the fall of former president Bashar al-Assad in December last year. Talks between the top Syrian diplomat and local lawmakers will be focused on the lifting of remaining US sanctions.
