- Jupiter, one of the biggest DEXs on Solana, has launched a Universal Send feature.
- With users in mind, it promises to remove entry barriers posed by fees and a bad user experience.
Solana’s Decentralized Exchange (DEX) Jupiter has introduced a new send feature to its mobile app. The new Universal Send feature will allow token holders to send any cryptocurrency to users without a wallet.
Jupiter Simplifies Funds Transfer
According to the announcement, all Solana assets, including memecoins, stablecoins, and NFTs, are eligible for sending. However, the sender will have to cover only the gas costs on Solana. The send feature is now live on the Jupiter mobile app and is accessible after an update.
Universal Send is end-to-end self-custodial. Users can use Jupiter Mobile to send gifts to family, onboard friends, or even pay for goods. Token holders can use Universal Send to transfer via a link or generate a QR code with money. The recipient can decline the offer, in which case the tokens are deposited back into the sender’s wallet.
The new send option is primarily designed to allow token holders to send value and gifts to anyone without requiring a separate wallet beforehand. Recipients without a wallet can claim tokens by downloading the app and using the provided code or link.
Jupiter has reduced the gas amount for Universal Sends, aligning with the trend of fintech tips and gifts through Solana assets. The platform revealed plans to onboard more Solana users with the option for gifts and tipping to new potential users.
IOS and Android users can access Universal Send by downloading Jupiter Mobile from the App Store and the Google Play Store.
Jupiter Drives Solana Adoption
The Jupiter community quickly responded with potential use cases for Universal Send. For instance, Web3 projects can use the feature to reward users or even social media airdrop campaigns, without requiring third-party platforms.
Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) may also use the feature to spread new meme tokens. To claim the offer, recipients must also download the Jupiter Mobile app, which has over 100,000 downloads as of now.
However, there are rising concerns about safety measures. Besides the limitation of paying Solana gas, Jupiter has yet to share other strategies for safeguarding against fake tokens or unwanted airdrops.
Notwithstanding, Jupiter aims to offer a full crypto experience as the central Solana app. Previously, Jupiter introduced Jupiter VERIFY, a token verification system that helps users identify trustworthy projects. As featured in our recent coverage, this tool enhances transparency and reduces scam risks in the Solana ecosystem.
Furthermore, Jupiter has released other onboarding tools like Blinks and social media links that lead to on-chain transfers. This tool matches the Jupiter trader profile, where the bulk of swaps are for under $100.
Jupiter is among the most active apps, as indicated by its daily fees and perpetual trading. Jupiter carries out over 21 million daily swaps. The DEX peaked at over 57 million swaps on January 20, one of the busiest days on Solana.
As detailed in our earlier post, Jupiter has continued transforming into a super application with features like memecoin terminals and NFT integration.
