  • Shib Alpha Layer is live to simplify blockchain use by allowing users to interact with multiple RollApps.
  • New features like flexible gas payments and encrypted smart contracts signal Shiba Inu’s shift toward enhanced functionalities.

Shiba Inu has taken a major step away from its origins as a meme coin. The team behind the digital asset has unveiled a project that may redefine how crypto community enthusiasts see it. The move comes as part of a broader plan to position itself as a key player in the Web3 space.  Notably, this follows months of development and quiet build-up.

Shiba Inu Launches Shib Alpha Layer to Power Web3 Growth

Previously, CNF reported that the Shiba Inu core team, led by Lucie, has announced that Shiba Inu network upgrades are on the horizon.

As one of the numerous upgrades, the Shiba Inu team has introduced the Shib Alpha Layer. This new technology was developed with ElderLabs in a bold move to strengthen its position in the digital asset market. It marks the ecosystem’s move beyond jokes and memes and now offers real utility and a foundation for serious blockchain projects.

The launch was announced on X, where the team explained that Shib Alpha Layer would act as a unifying hub for many RollApps. The idea is to simplify how users interact with multiple chains. Instead of jumping across apps, wallets, or bridges, users can now enjoy a single-chain experience, where all actions feel like they happen on one platform.

Kaal Dhairya, one of Shiba Inu’s lead developers, spoke about the project’s importance. He shared how the team had been ignored and mocked in the past, but chose to focus on building. Shiba Inu and ElderLabs brought the project to life in record time without backing from venture capital firms.

The Shib Alpha Layer also includes flexible payment options. Users can pay gas fees with any token, including SHIB and BONE. It supports ZAMA’s Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), allowing smart contracts to run while remaining encrypted. This is a key addition for users concerned about privacy and security.

Another major feature is ShibOS, a plug-and-play system where developers can pick only the necessary modules. Upcoming additions will include instant bridging and support for multiple chains. According to Dhairya, Shibarium will serve as the settlement layer, giving each RollApp built-in protection and upgrading them to a Level 3 network.

As part of its current ecosystem update, we covered in our latest report that Shiba Inu has launched ShibDAO. This is an essential community-driven governance platform designed to eliminate opaque decision-making processes.

Lead Developer Declares the Meme Era Over

Following the beta launch, Dhairya clarified that the meme era for Shiba Inu is officially over. This is the beginning of what he calls the Shib Alpha Layer era.

Another key developer, Shytoshi Kusama, returned to X after weeks of silence to draw attention to this new rollout and the ongoing Web3 game project hosted on Astra Nova’s TokenPlay.ai. He urged the community to review Dhairya’s message closely.

With this shift, Shiba Inu has clearly stated its future path, moving from hype to real, working technology. However, it is essential to note that the upgrade news has not immediately affected the cryptocurrency’s price. As of the time of writing, SHIB was trading at $0.00001171, down by 7.37% in the past 24 hours.

Still, as noted in our earlier reports, crypto analyst Javon Marks has shared a different outlook. He believes Shiba Inu might be preparing for a significant 503% price breakout.
