Senior IS group member killed in US military raid in northern Syria, US official says

A US official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said US forces carried out a pre-dawn raid in northern Syria that killed a senior IS group member who was seen as a candidate to be the leader of the IS group in Syria. A Syrian source said the target was an Iraqi national and was married to a French national.
