Ripple has announced a big $25 million donation to help teachers and schools across the United States. The money will mostly be given in Ripple’s own digital dollar, called Ripple USD (RLUSD). Ripple is using its digital dollar, RLUSD, to send majority of the money.
The funds will go to two education groups, DonorsChoose and Teach For America. Both work to give teachers and students the tools they need for better learning and brighter futures.
Ripple’s goal is to support young people as they get ready for future jobs and to give teachers the resources they often have to buy with their own money. Ripple’s CEO, Brad Garlinghouse, said the company has always cared about education and hopes this move encourages others to do the same — especially during Teacher Appreciation Week.
The donation will help pay for classroom supplies, tutoring programs, and science and technology projects. It will also support programs that teach students and teachers about managing money and building strong futures.
A recent survey found that many people in the U.S. are not happy with the current state of education. Over half of American adults believe schools need better funding and resources. Ripple’s donation is a step toward fixing that.
“Through their initiatives, Ripple is directly providing teachers with the resources their students need for the best education. Students will not only get their hands on materials that will enhance their learning, but they will also have the tools to help set them on the path to a bright future,” said CEO of DonorsChoose.
