Ivory Coast opposition leader Thiam barred from presidential election

An Ivory Coast court on Tuesday removed opposition leader Tidjane Thiam from the electoral list, preventing him from running in the October presidential election. The court ruled that Thiam, who became head of the Democratic Party of Ivory Coast (PDCI) this month, lost his Ivorian nationality when he acquired French citizenship in 1987.
