  • IOTA’s Progress Report for Q2 2025 has pointed out some of the key progress that occurred within the ecosystem, including the Rebased Protocol, Gas Station, and IOTA Identity.
  • IOTA has hinted that it would strongly focus on the product ecosystem expansion in the future.

IOTA has, in its progress report for the second quarter of 2025 (Q2 2025), highlighted some of its successful implementations, including the mainnet launch of the IOTA Rebased and the debut of the TWIN Foundation.

According to the report, the Rebased Protocol launched in the first week of May represents a consistent effort and more than one year of collaborative work across the Research and Development teams. However, it consumed a huge amount of its resources.

The report further explains that the period under review also witnessed multiple protocol improvements, including an enhanced sequence algorithm. Per the details, this significantly reduced latency while increasing the throughput.

Another notable mention within the period is the onboarding of ObjectID, Orobo, and Impierce Technologies through the Business Innovation Program. Above all, version 0.2 of the IOTA Gas Station was released.

As noted in our earlier post, this feature was designed to ensure that the transaction fee is sponsored in the background to facilitate a smooth user experience.

In the blog post, IOTA also mentioned its relentless effort to significantly advance certain initiatives, including the IOTA Identity. Per the report, version 1.6 beta was meant to enable compatibility with the IOTA mainnet.

For easy access and onboarding, the team designed product pages for IOTA Identity and IOTA Gas Station on the official website. Apart from this, the second quarter of the year saw a “big win” for the TWIN as IOTA joined five other entities to launch the TWIN Foundation.

As indicated in our earlier discussion, this was to position TWIN as a “lasting global public good for digital trade” through leadership and governance.

Within the period, TWIN was featured in a dedicated session of the TradeTech Forum hosted in Abu Dhabi on April 8. IOTA also gathered several developers, industry leaders, and policymakers at the IOTA East Africa Web3 Innovation Summit held in Nairobi on May 30 to discuss TLIP and showcase TWIN, as mentioned in our earlier blog post.

According to IOTA, its ecosystem team also increased awareness and community participation around the Rebased Protocol through events, campaigns, and integrations. As detailed in our previous news brief, the team organized the “CoinGecko Learn 2 Earn (L2E) campaign” with 13,000 people participating.

The multi-phase Return of IOTA campaign also saw more than 16,000 users. Additionally, IOTA partnered with the largest exchange in South Korea, Bithumb, to launch “The Bithumb L2E campaign” to expand into a high-potential market.

Concluding the report, IOTA disclosed that it published 16 blog posts in Q2 2025 to support the launch of the Rebased Protocol and the TWIN Foundation. Apart from this, about 1000 posts were made on social media. With this, 5.8 million impressions were recorded organically, while 42 million impressions were recorded through advertising from TEA.

According to IOTA, its future objectives include an expansion of its product ecosystem with a focus on real use cases in trade and logistics.
