'I'm watching!' Trump makes panicked demand as he fears effect of Iran bombing

President Donald Trump seemed to realize Monday that a repercussion of his bombing of Iran could be higher fuel prices in the United States.

Writing on Truth Social Monday, days after he ordered the bombing of nuclear sites in Iran, Trump wrote in all capital letters, "EVERYONE, KEEP OIL PRICES DOWN. I’M WATCHING! YOU’RE PLAYING RIGHT INTO THE HANDS OF THE ENEMY. DON’T DO IT!"

It isn't the first time Trump has sent a direct order to major corporations in the U.S. When Trump's tariffs meant higher prices at discount retailer Walmart, Trump told the company to "eat" any overages on costs.

He followed Monday's post with another post demanding: "To The Department of Energy: DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!! And I mean NOW!!!"

The Department of Energy isn't in charge of drilling. Instead, oil and gas companies are, and it typically takes about six to eight months for a company to ramp up oil production from a new well, Investopedia reported last year. Trump's trade war has also altered the supply chain and increased costs for mechanical equipment and parts made overseas.
