Horror as ‘car drives straight into crowds’ at Christmas Market in Germany as terrified shoppers flee in fear

SEVERAL people are reported to be dead after a car smashed into a Christmas market in Germany.

Videos shared on social media show flashing blue lights and loud sirens approaching the event in Magdeburg.

Two vehicles reportedly crashed into a Christmas market

A man is understood to have been arrested at the scene.

Government spokesman Matthias Schuppe confirmed the attack, reports MDR Sachsen-Anhalt.

Witnesses described seeing the car drive straight into the crowd in the direction of the town hall, according to Bild.

They said people then ran away in panic.
