Government Approves Plans for Second Gatwick Runway

Transport secretary Heidi Alexander has just released a written statement confirming that the government is ‘minded to approve’ a second runway for Gatwick. On the proviso that two conditions set by the Examining Authority are met:

• Gatwick to adopt a binding target of at least 54% of passengers arriving per year by public transport.
