First Lady Brigitte Macron is suing right-wing firebrand Candace Owens for a “relentless and unjustified smear campaign” that alleges Macron is secretly a man.

Law firm Clare Locke shared the 219-page defamation complaint on its website, showing that Owens will be sued in Delaware state court.

The document filed Wednesday says that Owens hosted an eight-part podcast that was also shared on social media. In it, the first claims accuses Owens or working the far-right into a “frenzied fan base” all in “pursuit of fame."

The suit notes that the Macrons attempted to engage with Owens, but said that she ignored them. She also mocked them after she was sent a demand for retraction.

“These lies have caused tremendous damage to the Macrons,” the lawsuit alleges.

“Owens has dissected their appearance, their marriage, their friends, their family, and their personal history — twisting it all into a grotesque narrative designed to inflame and degrade,” the complaint continues. “The result is relentless bullying on a worldwide scale. Every time the Macrons leave their home, they do so knowing that countless people have heard, and many believe, these vile fabrications. It is invasive, dehumanizing, and deeply unjust.”

The firm Clare Locke also represented Dominion Voting Systems in the company's settlement with Fox News over lies around the 2020 election.

Macron won a similar case on the same false claims in 2024.
