California: Diwali becomes state holiday; Indian American community hails move

California now officially recognizes Diwali as a state holiday. Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new bill into law. This allows public schools and community colleges to close for the festival. State employees can also take paid time off. This bipartisan effort celebrates cultural diversity. California becomes the first West Coast state with this recognition.
