Bitcoin (BTC) registered a new all-time high of $118,287.46 on July 11 and is up 3.3% in the past 24 hours, but major altcoins are leading the gains during the same period.
Ethereum (ETH) breached the $3,000 threshold for the first time since Feb. 2, and is currently trading at $2,987.55 as of press time, with a 6.1% daily increase.
XRP’s daily gains are at 10.4%, with the token reaching a price of $2.75. Cardano (ADA) also added two-digit gains in the past 24 hours, with ADA sitting at $0.73 following a 12% leap.
Dogecoin (DOGE) currently holds the $0.2086 level and is another major cap altcoin with significant upside, up 12.6% over the past 24 hours.
BNB is one of the few major altcoins that failed to outperform Bitcoin by a significant margin. However, the token still climbed 3.1% over the past day, while Solana (SOL) rose 2.4% to $164.77 as of press time.
Hyperliquid (HYPE) registered another all-time high at $46.45 as of press time, boosted by an 8.3% price increase.
Wrapping up the robust gains of major cap altcoins, Stellar (XLM) stole the spotlight by running 24.3% in 24 hours, priced above $0.37.
The strong performances resulted in over $1 billion in liquidations in the past 24 hours, according to Coinglass data.
AI and NFT applications lead the run
Aside from major cap altcoins, the sectors with the most significant average daily gains are assets related to artificial intelligence (AI) and non-fungible tokens (NFT) applications.
According to Artemis, native tokens from NFT applications are up by 16.9%. This performance is heavily influenced by the Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) token, which surged 23% in 24 hours, and is currently priced at $0.0234.
AI tokens added 10.9% in average gains within the same period, heavily propelled by Story’s (IP) 32% jump.
The memecoin sector showed a 9% average price increase, with MemeCore jumping 82,5% and leading the pack.
