  • Algorand integrates Wormhole NTT to enable native token transfers across over 40 different blockchains without using wrapped assets.
  • Developers can issue multichain tokens directly from Algorand with open-source SDKs, enhancing DeFi interoperability and user access.

Algorand recently announced its integration with Wormhole via the Native Token Transfers (NTT) standard, allowing tokens to be moved between over 40 blockchains directly—without the need for wrapping. For developers and users, this is no ordinary news. It’s like getting a fast track to a multichain ecosystem, without having to get bogged down in the technicalities.

Algorand is now natively multichain, through Wormhole NTT.

Not only that, the impact of this announcement was immediately visible in the market. ALGO’s price rose by around 4% in just a matter of hours, with daily trading volumes soaring to $107 million, more than doubling and breaking a 30-day downtrend. These numbers seem to be proof that this news is not just exciting on paper.

Growing Developer Activity and DeFi Momentum on Algorand

Behind this partnership, Folks Finance is involved as an early partner that will adopt the NTT standard for the launch of the FOLKS token. For those who are not familiar, Folks Finance is one of the leading DeFi protocols on the Algorand network. This adoption could open the door for many other tokens to follow suit.

Meanwhile, the network activity is increasingly felt. The latest data shows that daily transactions on Algorand have reached 1 million—up 54% compared to the previous week. The number of active addresses has also jumped to 108 thousand. This suggests one thing: more users, and they are active. The role of the AlgoKit 3.0 update launched in early 2025 has also sparked a new wave of interest from developers.

From NFT Ticketing to Biometric Payments: Real-World Blockchain Use

Furthermore, Algorand is not a new player in practical innovation. In mid-June, CNF reported that Algorand had helped TravelX mint more than 17 million NFT tickets with an efficient and smooth system. Just imagine, minting millions of blockchain-based tickets without having to deal with network congestion.

However, it is not only volume and technology that are in the spotlight. Last February, CNF also noted that this network was able to process more than 34,000 transactions in just one block, and it happened in just three seconds. Even more impressively, the success rate reached 100%.

On the other hand, Algorand’s focus on expanding social impact is also starting to be seen. In recent days, they announced a partnership with Paycode to develop a biometric-based payments system in eight African countries. The target is more than 6 million unbanked people. All built on infrastructure powered by the Algorand network.
